For the better part of my childhood I kicked it in A-Town, (Aurora, CO for those of you not in the know) before getting shipped to Atlanta at the age of 16. Though I appreciated my time in the South, my heart always remained in the Rockies. So, shortly after graduating college I picked me a Georgia Peach and drug her kicking and screaming back out west. Managing not to get shanked during our brief stint in The 505 (Albuquerque, people) we had a son and quickly fled to the Motherland, where we now reside, having set up shop in Colorado Springs.
I graduated Georgia State University with a degree in History and Creative Writing, which in hindsight probably explains why my restaurant career has lasted way too long. I made the mistake of getting into management, which climaxed with a five year stint at an establishment known for its owl-mascot and tackiness, as well as its propensity to tint the nightmares of its managers a universally recognizable and equally horrifing shade of orange.
Today I find myself back to the basics- polishing wineglasses and pouring cocktails, all while staring out the window at one of the great views of the majestic Pikes Peak. In 2007, I founded High Timber Woodworks which I use as a pseudo-professional outlet for my passion for making sawdust.
I have also come to the conclusion that a decade of talk was enough, and have finally begun focusing on a freelance writing career. I have taken a position with a local newspaper as a staff writer, and am always on the lookout for the next story that will introduce me to something cool.
My goal for this website is to introduce visitors to all the glory of this beautiful state through the stories of those that live in it. Through a series of first-hand vignettes, I want people to come along for the experience, hoping to inspire a few to come and create some of their own.
